Terms of Service
These are the rules you agree to when you sign up for MusicPool. They're written in plain English. If anything's unclear, ask us.
1Accepting these terms
By creating a MusicPool account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
2Who can use MusicPool
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/UK and elsewhere where local law sets the minimum higher) to create an account. By signing up, you confirm you meet this requirement.
You're responsible for following the laws of the country you use MusicPool from.
3Your account
- You sign up with a real, working email address — we use it for confirmation, password reset, and security notices.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Don't create multiple accounts to evade blocks or limits.
- If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, change your password and contact us immediately.
4How you can use the app
MusicPool exists so people can connect through shared music taste. Use it for that. Be kind, be honest, respect the other person's anonymity until they choose to reveal.
5What's not allowed
You may not, and may not allow anyone else to, do any of the following on MusicPool:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or hate-speech another user. We take this seriously.
- Send sexually explicit content, send sexual content to anyone under 18, or solicit such content.
- Share illegal content, content that promotes violence, or content that incites self-harm.
- Impersonate another person, a public figure, or a MusicPool team member.
- Try to expose another user's real identity against their consent. The anonymity layer is a core feature, not a puzzle.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the API, including but not limited to: automated chat, mass account creation, vote manipulation, attempting to bypass the matching algorithm.
- Send spam, scams, phishing, or unsolicited promotion.
- Upload malware or anything intended to harm other users or our systems.
- Use MusicPool for commercial purposes without our written permission (advertising, marketing, sales pitches in chat, etc.).
- Violate intellectual property rights, including sharing pirated music files (sharing public Spotify / Deezer links is fine).
Breaking these rules can lead to a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent account closure. For serious or repeated violations, we'll skip straight to permanent.
6Your content
You own what you write, share, and post on MusicPool. By using the app, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your content inside the app for the purpose of running the service — for example, showing your message to the person you're chatting with.
You're responsible for the content you create. If it violates these Terms or someone else's rights, we may remove it.
7Music attribution
Track metadata (titles, artists, cover art, preview clips) shown inside MusicPool is provided by Spotify, Deezer, and other rightsholders. MusicPool does not own this content. Streaming and playback follow the terms of the relevant service.
8Reports, blocks, and moderation
If someone behaves badly, use the in-app report and block tools. Blocking ends the current chat and prevents future matching with that user. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We don't disclose moderation outcomes for privacy reasons.
We may remove content, suspend accounts, or take other action at our discretion when these Terms are violated. We may also do so without prior notice when we believe a user is at risk.
9Our intellectual property
The MusicPool name, logo, app, and website (including code, designs, copy, and visuals) are the intellectual property of MusicPool. You don't get any rights to them by using the app, except the limited right to use the app for its intended purpose.
10Third-party services
MusicPool integrates with third-party services (Apple App Store, Google Play, Supabase, Resend, Spotify, Deezer, APNs, FCM). Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use those parts of the experience. We're not responsible for content or behavior outside of MusicPool itself.
11Suspension & termination
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Profile → Account → Delete account). We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or if we're required to by law.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.
12Disclaimers
MusicPool is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every attack, or that any specific match will happen. We don't endorse any content shared by users — including music, opinions, or claims.
13Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MusicPool and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service — including damages for lost profits, loss of data, or other intangible losses.
Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50.
14Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect. The "Effective" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Continued use of MusicPool after the changes go live means you accept them.
15Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MusicPool is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless required otherwise by mandatory law where you live.
