Thank you for using MusicPool ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, MusicPool (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the App.

1. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:

A. Information You Provide to Us

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and a hashed version of your password.

Profile Information: We collect your music preferences, including favorite genres and moods (e.g., "Rock," "Pop," "Chill," "Energetic") that you select to join Vibe Pools.

User Content: We collect the information you post to the service, which includes chat messages, song links from Spotify that you share, and the reviews and ratings you give to and receive from other users regarding their music taste.

Communications: If you contact us directly for support or feedback, we will collect the information contained in your correspondence.

B. Information We Collect Automatically

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about your interactions with the App, such as the Vibe Pools you join, the number of matches you make, features you use, and the dates and times of your activity.

Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device, including the device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and IP address.

2. How We Use Your Information
Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the App to:

Create and manage your account.

Operate the core matching service, connecting you with other users based on your shared music tastes.

Enable user-to-user communication and song sharing.

Display your profile, which includes your username and music taste reviews, to other users you match with.

Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the App.

Ensure the safety and security of our community by monitoring for violations of our terms and facilitating user reports.

Respond to your support requests and resolve disputes.

3. How We Share Your Information
We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

A. With Other Users

When you match with another user, they will be able to see your username. Any chat messages or Spotify links you share will be visible to that user. Your music taste review score and the comments left by others will be part of your profile that can be viewed by your matches. By default, your connection is anonymous, and you control when and if you share further identifying information.

B. With Third-Party Service Providers

We may share your information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work (e.g., cloud hosting services like AWS or Google Cloud, analytics services, and crash reporting).

C. For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if we are required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the App or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

4. Data Retention
We will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies. You can delete your account at any time, at which point we will take steps to delete your information in a timely manner.

You have certain rights regarding the personal information we hold about you.

Account Information: You may at any time review or change the information in your account by logging into your account settings.

Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time through the App's settings menu.

Push Notifications: You can opt out of receiving push notifications by changing the settings on your mobile device.

6. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

7. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
